We Don't Want Lots of Rights

I found a very interesting quote in this blog post.

"We don’t want lots of rights for the same reason that we wouldn’t want to face red lights every fifty feet."

The basic argument is that any time we have a right it means that someone else is restricted from doing something.  It is like a fence, or a red light.  The more rights we give, the more fences we put up or red lights we turn on.  Sometimes this is necessary to direct traffic, but taken too far it becomes a hindrance.
